There are many benefits of driverless cars. In this article, I will discuss some of the amazing benefits of Driverless cars that the world is experiencing. In very little time we will see these Driverless cars all over the world replacing normal vehicles. These cars are thought to be revolutionary cars. With benefits come some drawbacks as well. So I will be discussing those as well.
Here are some of the benefits of Driverless Cars?
Fewer Accidents: It is known that 94% of the accidents are caused by human error. What if we exclude humans completely? It would result in improved safety. This is one of the main benefits of driverless cars.
Less Congestion: There would be a reduction in congestion. As self-driving cars can communicate with each other, there would be no need for traffic signals.
There would be a reduction in pollution and energy consumption. The reduction in congestion will result in a reduction of CO2 emissions as well.
Even the elderly and disabled users can go anywhere easily independently.
The benefits of Driverless cars also includes its efficiency. There would be a reduction in maintenance costs.
There would be no parking need. As cars could coordinate with each other, so they can park themselves anywhere they want and move whenever there’s a need.
Even the person who always has to drive to long routes can just chill now.
Reduced Travel Time: As there would be no error possibility, cars designed would run at greater speeds with powerful engines. So, it’s pretty obvious that there would be reduced travel time.
Lower Fuel Consumption: There would be lower fuel consumption as there would be more smooth acceleration and deceleration than a human driver.
No doubt, there would be some drawbacks as well
With the benefits of driverless cars come drawbacks as well. The first one is that it is Expensive: They would be hell expensive in the start. The cost of buying the car, the software, installing the sensors, and updating them now and then would be hell exhausting.
Such new technology does not always go smoothly with our expectations. New technologies can fail, coding can go the other way round.
Greater Pollution: Imagine you are running late for a movie and you finally reach the cinema. Now, you don’t have to look for parking. It sounds great but imagines, your car is not electric and its releases emission throughout. So, there’s a potential for greater pollution.
Now, even those people can go on a driver who is afraid of driving. Which would increase the number of vehicles dramatically.
There must be software inbuilt for a car. Imagine, the computer is hacked or it catches some error. Anything could happen under this situation.
Many people will lose their jobs. The truck driver, food delivery service, Uber service, all these employees will have to search for another job.
